Aircraft Registration - SX-OAD

Aircraft Information and History - The Boeing 747 “The Queen of the Skies” has and always will be loved by aviation enthusiasts far and wide. SX-OAD started life with Singapore Airlines and flew for them under the registration 9Q-SQI from 1979 to 1985. When sold to Olympic Airlines the airframe was then painted into the Airlines colors and given the name “Olympic Flame”. The airframe traveled across the world with fare-paying passengers for a further 17 years before being retired and stored at Bruntingthorpe. In 2006 British supermarket chain “ASDA” painted the airframe into the store’s instantly recognizable green colors with the fake registration G-ASDA as part of a marketing campaign. The airframe was then left to sit until 2020 when it was, unfortunately, scrapped.
